From Pastor Alan (10/17/24):
Great morning - after a cold night with heavy frost this morning, spirits are still very high and extremely focused. We had a great volunteer family spaghetti meal last night with lots of laughs and stories.
A friend of Sally’s opened up their home to us for showers, while others have opted for the outdoor shower. The amount of work getting done is astounding but not surprising.
Sally, JR, and her crew aided a high school classmate with redoing their son’s room. The son has autism, so routine and normalcy is important. They were able to reestablish that for him yesterday.
Kelly and Heather have spearheaded cleaning a home for a family at the end of my family’s street - they took a bigger crew today to attack it even more.
Kevin, Stephen, Noah, Willie, Mike and Dennis ran the heavy equipment, finished the hauling away of trash and restored some sense of normalcy to our street.
Brandie, Mark, and their crew loaded up the cargo van with supplies and simply went door to door in the community loving on people, listening to their stories and giving supplies.
My heart is so full of gratitude and appreciation for the love shown and the resiliency of the people here. Thanks for sending us and reading the update.
